Vintage Lens Wedding Photography

The Helios 40-2 85mm F1.5 is famed for its swirling bokeh. These are a classic Russian lens from the 1950’s. I recently got the chance to try this lens out at a wedding. It is a chance from the modern pin sharp auto eye tracking focus that you see everywhere.. the manual focus and manual aperture controls can give a softer image, which can be much more flattering on any skin imperfections. I also think in the age of modern digital cameras getting sharper and sharper this can be a great way to get a more vintage look to your wedding, and make it stand out in a world of pin sharp digital iphone shots.
